  • High speed rail and light rail have been talked about for decades in Florida, and still neither has been built. The ending is always the same. Voters or newly elected officials end up killing a proposed project. It's not that there isn't a willing ridership, there's not a willing electorate.

  • The young osprey's original nest - likely his first attempt at building a nest - was on a railroad crossing signal above a relatively busy road. The Audubon Society was concerned that the bird would get hit by a truck as it flew to and from its nest.

  • The key to Florida's success with HSR is that the state plans to build the system entirely on public right-of-way. The system will operate on a separate, sealed, rail corridor (exclusively passenger rail) with highway grade separation.
